A Month-End Checklist to Give Your Field Service Clients
A month-end checklist works when the owner can finish it in fifteen minutes. Anything longer gets skipped in a busy week. Here is a short one to give your field service clients.
One: every job done this month has an invoice. The owner looks down the month on the calendar and checks each job against the invoice list.
Two: every invoice paid this month is marked paid. Cash and checks are the ones that slip, because no software sees them arrive.
Three: every unpaid invoice has had a reminder. An invoice nobody chased by the end of the month is less likely ever to be paid.
Four: every business purchase has a photo of its receipt. Fuel, materials and equipment are the usual gaps.
Five: every refund or discount has a note saying why. You will ask about it later, and the owner will not remember.
Send the checklist on the same day each month, and ask for a reply when it is done. Within a few months it becomes a habit.
QSP makes the first three checks quicker, because jobs, invoices and payments sit in one place and stay linked to each other. Your QSP bookkeeper account is free at qsphq.com/bookkeepers.
